The Division serves as an academic home for physicians who are certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and the Royal College (RC) and who have significant roles, responsibilities and interests related to palliative care. The Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Medicine are committed to one single, vibrant, and productive academic Division of Palliative Care at McMaster University. This maximizes the palliative care expertise that exists in both Departments, nurtures capacity-building and collaboration, and leverages the strengths, approaches and competencies that reside in the two departments and other departments such as Pediatrics.

The Palliative Medicine Residency Program

The Palliative Medicing Residency Program at McMaster prepares residents to become expert clinicians and leaders in Palliative Medicine in the various settings in which palliative care is provided. The philosophy of the program is to combine mentorship and formal curriculum to provide residents with the tools to foster lifelong successful careers as subspecialists in Palliative Medicine.
